Gray Jay provides pipeline risk management, engineering assessments, integrity documents and manuals, root cause analysis, pre-acquisition support and audit support. All work is aligned with CSA Z662 and regulatory requirements. We also offer PipeGuard, our own pipeline risk and data management software, for operators who want their integrity data and risk scores in one place.
We manage pipeline risk line by line in accordance with CSA Z662, identifying the threats and mitigation strategy to each pipeline, scoring likelihood and consequence, and ranking lines across each field using third-party risk software of your choice or using PipeGuard - our own risk software. Our risk management services include:
Engineering assessments fulfill the requirement for a number of regulatory bodies in Canada, in accordance with CSA Z662. Assessment types include:
We create new manuals and update existing ones to current industry standards, keep them up to date as regulations change, and tailor every document to your operations, including:
We investigate leaks and ruptures through field evidence, corrosion mechanism analysis and metallurgical testing where needed, and recommend corrective actions that address the underlying cause.
We offer pre-acquisition services. We assess the pipeline assets involved, reviewing licence records, integrity, mitigation and failure history, and regulatory compliance to understand the condition of the assets and where the liabilities sit. Additionally, pipelines can be run through PipeGuard’s Risk Engine to model corrosion rates, assign each line a risk score against your own risk matrix, and estimate the remaining life of each pipeline.
We help you prepare for regulatory and third-party audits, from records review and gap closure to responding to information requests.
Gray Jay is the first company in Western Canada to pair pipeline integrity engineering with its own risk management software. Because our engineers complete the annual line-by-line risk assessments and also develop PipeGuard, the risk engine can be fine-tuned to each operator’s system based on what those assessments find in the field.
The result is a risk model that reflects your pipelines and is updated every year, rather than a generic model applied from the outside.
